WAMFest - Perth Music Saturday Spectacular
Last weekend was one of my favourite events on the local music calendar - My reliable favourite since I first started getting involved in the Perth music scene - WAMFest's Saturday Spectacular.
If local music isn't really your thing, or you've been living under a rock for a while, WAM (the West Australian Music industry association) runs a festival every year (now called WAMFest) which includes industry conferences, awards, and a whole heap of gigs!
The highlight (for me, at least) of WAMFest is the Saturday Spectacular! It's as great as the name suggests, and this year included performances from over 130 local acts, spread across 19 venues. All one the one day. As you do.
Given I haven't been to (or photographed) all that many gigs in the last.. forever or so.. I decided my aim this year was to grab my camera, and check out as many acts across as many venues as I could!
As you might guess from the photos above, I didn't quite achieve that goal. But I had said I wanted to see The Brow and The Floors, and I did achieve that! (Also Old Blood, who were amazeballs). I also got to check out new venue The Sewing Room, whose journey I has been following for a few years now, and it looks rad as hell!
Who else went along to something on Saturday? Lemme know if you saw any amazing bands or places, or just generally if you have any recommendations of local acts I should check out! (I've literally been out of the scene for about 5yrs now, I have no idea, points given for great suggestions)
